Manga in Libraries: Representation of Girls and Women in Manga (Presented by NYCSLA) + Other Great Talks You Should Watch

You may have noticed that I’ve been a little quiet the past couple weeks, and it’s because the end of the school year is upon us, so I’ve become insanely busy! But, I had time to participate in this amazing panel for NYCSLA and the GNCRT on the representation of girls and women in manga. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know this is one of my favorite topics!

My fellow participants included:

Jillian Ehlers

School Librarian

@jrlibrarian

Christina Gavin

@xtmarielibrary

Sara Smith

@sm_wordsmith

Deb Aoki

Journalist, Podcaster

You can find our resource document HERE and a curated list on Anime Planet HERE.

Also, in case you missed them, there was an excellent panel from But Why Tho? entitled “Let’s Talk Queer Storytelling in Manga and Anime” which you can watch HERE on their Twitch Channel featuring members of the LGBTQ+ Community.

And there was also an amazing panel on manga translation, which you can view below:
